The Interface between WASH and IWRM

Waternet in collaboration with Capnet is pleased to offer a national course in Zimbabwe on The Interface between WASH and IWRM which will be facilitated by the Institute of Water and Sanitation Development

IWRM has become established as an important element in the management of water resources, although many organisations in the WASH sector regard IWRM as something far removed from the day- to-day reality of their work. IWRM can foster more efficient and sustainable use of water resources to achieve the MDGs. The Institute of Water and Sanitation Development (IWSD) with support from Cap-net and WaterNet will be running a five day Training of Trainers (ToT) course on the ‘The Interface between WASH and IWRM’.

The purpose of the training is for participants to:

  • familiarize  with the concept and principles of IWRM and clearly understand aspects of IWRM that are relevant for the WASH sub-sector
  • equip participants with approaches on how to integrate IWRM aspects into the WASH program
  • understand the institutional arrangements required for coordination between WASH and IWRM and the benefits of a sector wide approach
  • encourage participants  to share practical experiences and knowledge, and draw common lessons

Target group

Water resources/WASH-IWRM mid-level practitioners and policy makers/planners with background in water resources management and WASH sub-sector. Female participants are encouraged to apply.  The training will be conducted from 03/08/09 to 07/08/09. Include in your application a one paged CV, a motivation statement and how the knowledge gained will be applied.
